Libyan militias continue unabated to take on immigrants with the inevitable unbearable number of victims. Certainly every crossing captures all the inherent risk of having accidents but the current situation is declined now, with a disproportionate number of deaths in each trip.
All this under the eyes of a European Union incapable guiltily closed not only to stem trafficking but even useful to take a stand for the protection of human lives. The only possible solution is now to provide for a UN intervention in Libya to manage migration flows on the spot.
