On September 11, a IDP camp (Internally Displaced Persons) in Adamawa State was targeted by a kamikaze attack which caused the death of seven people. In late September, more than 100 people died in Maiduguri, Borno State’s capital, in multiple explosions. Yobe State’s capital Damaturu has been hit hard as well: last month, a suicide attack killed more than 10 people and, on October 7, triple blasts killed about 15 people. The latest episode occurred two days ago, on October 13: a multiple attack hit Maiduguri once again and caused the death of at least 7 people.
All cities that were targeted are located in the north-eastern regions of Nigeria, in Boko Haram’s range of action. These attacks bare all the problems that the Nigerian army and its allies have been facing in the fight against the IS-linked group.
