IRAN AND THE WEST: CAN DO IT!

Yesterday historic day for international diplomacy , President Obama phoned his Iranian counterpart Rohani . It is the first direct contact between a U.S. president and an Iranian since 1979 . A call was Barack Obama, the day on which the new leader of Tehran has imprinted to promote dialogue by saying that "We will present a close-up on nuclear power already at Geneva on 15 and 16 October . A table which will participate along with 5 +1 without placing any preconditions.

Obama stated that " The road leading to the agreement is fraught with obstacles , but I think a solution to overcome the differences in overall Iranian nuclear possible," and even went as far as to suggest an easing of sanctions towards ' Iran , in exchange for shares significant , verifiable and transparent on nuclear power. The thaw is also found in the literal words that the two leaders also exchanged from one end of the phone: " Have a Nice Day" was the greeting in English Rohani , " Thanks, hhodahfez ," the answer , goodbye in Farsi , the head of the White House.

Meanwhile, just before Rohani met Enrico Letta for an interview behind closed doors. The two leaders are seen in the evening at the UN . The premier Letta, at the end of the meeting said he approached this appointment " with caution and curiosity. Caution because of the complex history of nuclear power, on which we go with feet of lead , "and then added, " Those who come from Iran openings are real and there is a willingness to talk to the right . The openings of Iran seemed to me real strides have been made and it is only a matter of image . It was a meeting more interesting than I could have hoped for and perhaps a basis for further positive developments. " Meanwhile, not far the Iranian Foreign Minister , Jawad Zarif , met fellow Use , John Kerry, and the 5 +1 on the nuclear issue of the Islamic Republic.

In the interview we talked about concrete issues such as alternative energy and industrial activities but also of the conflict and the emergence of Syria. He stressed that Letta " All these years we have suffered lack of communication with Iran and remove the isolation is in the strategic interest of all, and Italy will play its part."

The words of the two Western leaders and the availability of the President Rohani seem to bode well for the future of relations between these countries.
