Two attacks (one in Nigeria, the other one in Saudi Arabia) killed Shiite people gathered to celebrate Islamic festivity of Ashura.

Nigeria

A kamikaze is said to have blown himself up in the town of Potiskum, commercially-relevant city in the state of Yobe in North-Eastern Nigeria. Although pieces of news about the number of victims are non-unanimous, it is thought that from 15 to 30 people lost their lives. At present, there is no claim of responsibility but Boko Haram Sunni gunmen are the main suspects.

Saudi Arabia

Gun-shots caused Shiite victims in the village of al-Dalwah[1], on Monday evening (local time). News are not 100% clear in this case either but it is believed that two masked were the attackers, that they targeted a holy site and that they caused the death of five people.

Iraq

ISIS presence has been causing serious concerns about terroristic attacks against Shiite population; therefore, security forces sealed up relevant holy sites, such as the city of Kebala, deploying huge security measures in order to avoid, for example, car-bomb related risks.

[1] Al-Dawah is located in the region of Al-Ahsa, region that is mainly inhabited by Shiite population which is a minority in Saudi Arabia.
